What is Competency?
Qualifications are gained by achieving the ‘Units of Competency’ thatmake up the qualification. Each qualification is made up of a number ofunits of competency. Each unit of competency has a range of tasks and skillsthat need to be mastered before a person can be deemed competent in thatparticular unit of competency. You can demonstrate skills to an assessorby performing a job under observation, providing documentary evidence suchas samples of paperwork, or by oral questioning.
Competency based assessmentlooks at your ability to carry out a specific task safely, effectively anddemonstrating sound background knowledge of the task. At the assessmentyou will be deemed as competent in a specific unit, or not yet competent. There is no such thing as a fail. If you are deemed not yet competent youshould do further practice, you will then be reassessed in the areas youwere not yet competent in. You do not need to be completely reassessed.

How can I be assessed against the units of competency?
To be assessed as competent in a unit you can follow one of 3 paths.
- Full Assessment. This involves a process of on-the-job assessments and documentary evidence to demonstrate your competency. Where a candidate presents themselves for assessment and is deemed to be not yet competent on two separate occasions,a fee will be charged before each extra assessment is to take place.
- Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). This is a process where you can show that you are already competent in a unit of competency by way of your current qualifications and showing samples of your work. The process reliesheavily on your presentation of documentary evidence to support your claim of competency. The assessor will review all presented evidence and where necessary, seek to augment that evidence with other supporting evidence such as oral questioning. Where a candidate presents themselves for assessment and is deemed to benot yet competent on two separate occasions, a fee will be charged before each extra assessment is to take place.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If you have completed studies with another institution at an equivalent academic level, you can applyfor RPL. This will provide credit for learning and assessments you have already completed, meaning that you need not repeat units of competency.

Yes, you may but the process for this to occur is exactly the same as that outlined for cancellation. RAPID Training Pty Ltd operates independent of enrolment periods (i.e. you specify the date in which you are enrolling and all functions are then associated with that date). When you request a "transfer" you are, in effect, cancelling your enrolment in one course and creating a new enrolment in another course.
If you, therefore, wish to transfer your enrolment to another course or qualification you will need to pay the difference between the "new" enrolment fee and the amount of credit which you would have received upon cancellation of the "old" enrolment. This, as outlined above, will be dependent upon the time at which the request is received.
Training Kits
- All training kits including modules are not transferable to any other persons.
- All training materials purchased at the time of the enrolment becomes the property of the participant and no refund will be offered unless cancellation has occurred.
